For Educators

Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum can provide programs and materials to give your students a fun and hands-on STEM experience.

Programs

All Wonderfeet school programs, including lending kits, provide hands-on STEM opportunities and meet the Next Generation Science Standards. Pre-visit and post-visit lessons and materials will be provided to incorporate the experience into your curricula.

Unless otherwise noted, all programs can be done at the Museum and will include Museum free play as part of a field trip. The Museum can accommodate up to 25 children at a time during a field trip. We will spend roughly 45 minutes in the classroom followed by approximately 45 minutes of free play.

OR

We can bring the program to you in your classroom as an Outreach Program. During an Outreach Program, Museum Educators can visit one or multiple classrooms in the same school throughout the day.

Reservations can be made by contacting the museum by calling (802) 282-2678 or emailing Paula.

Motion Commotion

  • Investigate the science of force and motion with your class. You and your students will design a solution to a challenge and conduct experiments to test your ideas on how things move.

Bee-ing Helpful

  • Have you ever wondered how an apple tree makes apples? What is that yellow powder in the center of a flower? Why are there so many different kinds of flowers? Have you ever wished you could be a bee? Students will explore these questions and use their knowledge to engineer a device to help pollinate flowers.

Water Cycle Wonder

  • Have you ever wondered how clouds are formed? Where does the rain come from? In this program, students will explore the water cycle and how the sun’s light and heat affect the water on Earth.

“Rock n Roll”: Exploring Weathering and Erosion

  • Did you know that forces can build and wear away landforms? Water, wind, and ice can tear down large landforms into small pieces. In this lesson, the students will explore weathering and erosion and their effects on Earth.

Engineering and Design

  • Explore engineering concepts using LEGO kits and the Imagination Playground’s small blue blocks. The kit gives children the opportunity to explore simple machines, balance, as well as design and build.

Light the Way

  • Have you ever wondered how light travels from one point to another? What makes a shadow? Why does light shine better through some objects than others? Have you ever experienced TOTAL darkness? Students will explore these questions and use their knowledge to engineer a device that uses light to communicate.

Recycle, Reuse, Create:

  • Where does all of our trash go? The garbage and recycling trucks take it away, but then what happens to it? What can our trash and recycling become? In this program, students will identify different sold waste materials and learn to sort and reuse these materials.

Storytime with a Craft: for Pre-K & K

  • Museum staff can pick out a picture book that aligns with the season, holiday, or a theme of your choosing. Students will listen a story, create a themed craft, and enjoy an hour of free play in the museum.

Imagination Playground

  • We will bring the museum to your school or classroom with hands-on STEM experiences that meet Next Generation Science Standards.

Wonderfeet educators can bring the Imagination Playground to your school for an all-inclusive program. We can schedule a whole day at yoTr school and offer differentiated programs for pre-k through 6th grade!

Imagination Playground is a set of oversized blue blocks that are like nothing your students have ever seen before. They’re oddly formed with unique, abstract shapes that make students curious and want to start building immediately. The entire system is designed with parts that both satisfy and challenge students. Imagination Playground encourages students to exercise problem-solving skills and complex thinking. Playing with blocks involves many math and science skills that can have a real impact in the classroom.

The Imagination PLayground includes the following:

    • Written pre-visit lessons are available
    • 20-minute assembly program to introduce the playground to the all of the classes together
    • Multiple 30-45-minute grade level challenges (up to 35 students at a time)

The program is only available as an Outreach Program.

  • Wonderfeet educators come to school with lessons and challenges: $350

Rent the blocks for a week

    • Imagination Playground: rent the Medium Blocks: $150

    • Imagination Playground: Rent the Large Blocks: $250

Light and Shadow

  • Explore light and shadow through investigations using flashlights, shadow puppets, and a light table.

Can We Build It?

  • Your students can role-play as architects, engineers, and construction workers for the week with this kit that includes our foam construction blocks (bricks, cement blocks, and wooden planks), trucks and play mat, tools, safety gear, and a set of tabletop building blocks.

Sound-Off

  • Have you ever wondered how sound travels? What makes sounds different from each other? Why do some sounds hurt my ears? Have you ever SEEN a sound? Students will explore these questions and use their knowledge to engineer a device that uses sound to communicate when modern technology is unavailable.

A Balancing Act: Forces

  • Forces are invisible energy. We use them in our daily lives to make thing work. In this program, students will explore what happens when a force is balanced or unbalanced. Students will use a variety ofrecycled materials to create a mobile that demonstrates their understanding of balance.

Circuit Circus: Energy Conversion

  • Have you ever wondered where electricity comes from? What is inside a battery? Electricity is a form of energy which is all around us. In this program, students will explore how electriciy works and create create a simple circuit.
