MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum is rooted from the desire of Rutland County residents to have a local children’s museum. Wonderfeet started serving the public at the Downtown Rutland Partnership’s summer Friday night series in 2011. From there, the museum opened in a small creative space in 2012 with an all-volunteer staff. In 2015, we opened in our current location as a full-time museum. We believe that this space exists to serve the families of Rutland County and provide a safe nurturing environment for families of all types to play and learn together. We offer free or reduced cost use of the museum to local agencies and professionals who work with children (such as physical therapists). We offer low-cost memberships to families with limited income. We have offered a variety of programs including summer camp opportunities, evening programs, field trips for schools and other groups, and have just launched learning club for home-schooled students. In addition, we offer some free programs to Rutland County schools both at the museum and on-site at the schools.
This year, Wonderfeet made the decision to seek town funding to help support our mission. We believe access for all is essential; thus, we subsidize a large portion of the cost of opening and running the museum. It is time for us to ask for your help. Please go to the polls on March 6, 2018, Town Meeting Day, and vote to approve funding for Wonderfeet Kids’ Museum.
